What We Learned at District Conference 2025
On May 5-6, 2025, over 300 ministry leaders, pastors, and credential holders gathered at First Assembly in Calgary for the PAOC ABNWT District Conference—a powerful time of prayer, vision, and transition. Both heartfelt celebration and Spirit-led direction marked this annual gathering as we honoured the leadership of Rev. Gary and Carrie Taittinger and welcomed our new District Superintendent, Rev. Corey Randell, along with his wife Chanda.
The conference served as a meaningful reminder of who we are as a District and where we believe God is leading us next. Here are three key takeaways from District Conference 2025:
1. We Are a Prayer Movement
More than an event, District Conference 2025 reminded us that we are first and foremost a people of prayer. Before any votes were cast or discussions held, we paused to seek the Lord together. Prayer wasn't an afterthought—it was the foundation.
Rev. Jason Small opened the conference with a stirring devotional titled "The Leader God Chooses," reminding us that God's choices often challenge our assumptions. His message called us to humbly submit to God's will, emphasizing that leadership in the Kingdom flows from divine selection, not human strategy.
In the months leading up to the election, there were intentional calls to fast and pray. That same prayerful spirit was deeply felt throughout the conference. As we enter this next chapter as a District, we are committed to remaining anchored in prayer, trusting God to lead us into His perfect will. Let's not let the momentum stop here—let's keep praying.
2. The Future Is Bright
There's no denying it: God is moving in our region in remarkable ways. The ABNWT District of the PAOC has experienced a tripling in growth over the past three years, with projections indicating we may double again within the next four. These aren't just numbers—they are lives transformed by the Gospel.
Across our churches, we're seeing unprecedented spiritual fruit: salvations, baptisms, and church plants on the rise. The harvest is plentiful, and we are responding with bold vision and faith-filled steps forward.
Rev. Corey Randell, in his first address as District Superintendent, cast a compelling vision for the future. "Now is not the time to step back," he urged, "it's time to step forward in faith." From multiplying leaders and launching campuses to planting new churches, we are being called into a season of expansion, not for our glory, but for the sake of the five million souls in our region who need to know Jesus.
3. We Don't Do Ministry Alone
One of the most encouraging themes that echoed through the conference was the importance of togetherness. We're not called to go it alone—we are a network, a fellowship, a family. Ministry can be isolating, but in the ABNWT District, no one has to walk the road alone.
From young leaders to seasoned pastors, many are engaging in cohorts—intentional communities that provide connection, prayer, resource sharing, and encouragement. These relationships are a key part of our District's health and growth. If you're not yet connected to a cohort, we encourage you to find one at abnwt.com/cohorts.
As we look ahead, let's continue leaning in—praying, believing, and building together. We can't stay where we are, and we can't slow down. The call of God compels us to move forward with purpose, passion, and unity.
