The Next Biggest Sunday of The Year
Everyone knows that the biggest Sunday of the Year, the Sunday when people who don't usually go to church may just come to church on that Sunday, is Easter! An amazing opportunity to engage people who are far from God and present the hope of the gospel and the power of the resurrection. It's a Sunday to plan, prepare, and pray for.
But did you know that the next biggest Sunday of the year is similar? People who don't usually attend church might come on this Sunday too? Another excellent opportunity to present the love, acceptance, and forgiveness that the gospel of Jesus Christ means to a world in need. It's Mother's Day! Yes! If you think of this Sunday as another opportunity to reach your community, you can seize the opportunity to reach people on this day. Here are some great Mother's Day ideas for the second biggest Sunday of the Year.
Invite Cards. Create invite cards that your congregation can use to invite people to Mother's Day at your church. Work four weeks out to ensure people are praying for and inviting people to join them.
Mother's Day Photo Booth. Get a local photographer to do a Mother's Day photo booth, and have families of all kinds get their pictures done in your lobby.
Mother's Day Breakfast. Have a special pancake breakfast or Mother's Day tea to celebrate moms on Mother's Day. Have hosts to serve and prepare for a time of connection and celebration.
Mother's Day Giveaways. Do a special gift for all the ladies (flowers, chocolates, smoothies, hand lotions, a devotional book) and a big giveaway during the service (spa package, massage, gift card).
Special Mother's Day Kids Craft. Have the kids create a special craft for all the ladies.
Consider a Creative Benevolence Idea. Bless a single mom. Bless a local non-profit like a pregnancy care centre. Do a car care ministry for single moms that week.
