Last year, the ABNWT Young Leaders Network launched the Young Leaders Accelerator geared towards young leaders interested in taking their leadership to the next level. We engaged in group learning, retreats, cohorts and practical application. Here’s what we discovered
Young Leaders need community. Ministry wasn’t meant to be done in isolation. Young leaders thrive when they are in an authentic community with other leaders who are walking out of their calling. There must be meaningful connections between one another to facilitate character and competency growth. Young Leaders are better together.
Young Leaders value feedback. Sometimes, we think that our young leaders “have got it all figured out.” This is simply not true. Young leaders value feedback and input from others who have gone before them. They are looking to older and more seasoned leaders to answer the questions they are asking. Vulnerability and authenticity is a key ingredient in giving feedback. The desire is to learn and grow into the leader God has called them to be.
Investing in Young Leaders is crucial. Sometimes, we have a “fire and forget” attitude when it comes to developing young leaders. The truth is we need to invest in our younger leaders as they navigate their formative years in ministry. The Young Leaders Accelerator is an investment from churches and senior leaders into this next generation, and it is not taken for granted. Your investment will not return void.
Young Leaders are in short supply. Our next generation of leaders is a valuable commodity, and we need young leaders who are confident in their calling and able to execute well on their ministry strategy and leadership of others. We must continue to champion the development of young leaders and lean younger in our ministry and our development.
After a successful launch year, ABNWT’s Young Leaders Accelerator is launching again this fall!
Some of the best young leaders in our District will take a year of intentional formation, growth in character, intimacy with Christ and ministry competencies that will provide the foundation for decades of fruitful and effective ministry.
