When do elected officials help a church reach out to their community? When you invite them to be front and centre for your initiative to spread kindness in your community.
Pastor Jennifer Mitchell and Lighthouse Church in Stony Plain invited the Mayor of Stony Plain, the Mayor of Spruce Grove, Town Councillors, and the MLA for Spruce Grove-Stony Plain to “star” in a promotional video. And they said YES!
They showed up on a Saturday to record the video. You’ll see in the production that they are all good sports. They acted silly for a serious cause. The Virtual Run for Hunger raises funds to give the gift of a Christmas meal to those who could use a little extra support this season.
Watch the video and imagine what you could do in 2022 to engage your community leaders to draw attention to a community cause that your church is championing. Have some fun with it. Make it a big day. Let your community see their elected officials leaning in for a good cause.
It just may help them get re-elected and help your church shine a light in your community.
