5 Things We Learned at Ministers Gathering 2025
Ministry leaders from across Alberta and the Northwest Territories came together in beautiful Banff, AB, from February 10-13, 2025, for a time of equipping, inspiration, connection, and spiritual refreshment. The theme, Leading from Your Life Message, encouraged us to reflect deeply on our spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being. We heard stories of transformation and felt God’s presence as we processed our own journeys. Here are five key takeaways from the Ministers Gathering.
Everyone Has a Story That Will Break Your Heart
Every person carries stories of loss, growth, and heartbreak. Not one of us is exempt from life’s challenges. Our life message is crafted through countless moments where God’s faithfulness shines in the midst of trials. Ministry doesn’t make us immune to hardships; it equips us to share how God meets us in them.Insecurity Thrives When We Hide From Our Stories
Shame and fear creep in when we’re unwilling to embrace our own stories. If we haven’t accepted God’s grace in our lives, it’s hard to own our imperfections and trust His ongoing work in us. But when we align ourselves with God’s narrative, insecurity loses its grip. Embracing our story means embracing Christ’s transforming power.Every Saint Has a Past, Every Sinner Has a Future
No one is beyond redemption. It’s easy to doubt that anything good can come from certain people—or even from our own pain. Yet, God is always at work, weaving every experience into His greater purpose (Romans 8:28). We’re not salespeople; we’re saved sinners whose lives testify to God’s grace. Our stories can inspire faith in others as the Holy Spirit moves.Even Ministers Need Regular Wellness Check-Ins
Dr. Gerry Tonn and Dr. Prince Oteng Boeteng challenged us to prioritize our mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Ministry can take a toll, and neglecting our well-being isn’t sustainable. Regular wellness assessments help us stay healthy and effective. (Take the assessment here: Thrive for Life)Your Life Message is Uniquely Yours, and God Will Use It
In a room of 500 ministers, no two stories were identical. God works uniquely in each of our lives, crafting a message only we can share. Reflecting on our journeys helps us communicate God’s work in us to others. (Explore the Developing Your Life Message questions here: Life Message Guide)
You don’t need a dramatic past to have an impactful ministry. What matters is your authentic journey with Jesus. Sharing how you discovered your need for His grace and transformation can resonate deeply with those around you. So, go and share your story.
