The Alberta NWT District Mission of “Calling forth PAOC Leaders…” will be accomplished in part through acknowledging and encouraging the various ministry gifts God has placed within the family of Credential Holders in our District. The gift of writing is one of those gifts and a tremendous blessing within the Body of Christ. From time to time we will introduce you to some authors and their books from the PAOC Alberta NWT District family.
In this E-Newsletter, we want to introduce you to Rev. Innocent Sezibera and his book Living Beyond the Past.
Innocent is an Ordained minister with the PAOC in the Alberta NWT District and serves as the Sr. Pastor of Goshen Christian Assembly in Edmonton, Alberta. He and his wife, Immaculee, have 5 children.
Prior to moving to Canada, Innocent was a pastor in both the Congo and Rwanda. During his ministry, he also served on the National Executive Leadership Team of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Rwanda.
In 1994, the world witnessed the genocide against the Tutsi of Rwanda. Many rushed to justify the genocide by blaming it on a plane crash that killed President Habyarimana of Rwanda and President Ntaryamira of Burundi. However, Innocent was born in the Congo in the 1960’s and grew up with the fear of being killed one day because of his ethnicity.
He escaped the killings of the Tutsi in the Congo, moved to Rwanda after the genocide, and contributed to the rebuilding of a destroyed nation suspended between hope and uncertainty. Despite being subjected to humiliation and fear all of his life, he refused to be a prisoner of ethnic hatred.
With more than ninety percent of the population being Christians in “the land of a thousand hills”, Hutu and Tutsi should live peacefully. Where Christ is, the dividing wall of hostility has been destroyed. Otherwise, the preachers of the good news and Christian politicians should ask themselves if they are faithfully fulfilling Christ’s mission.
This book is about overcoming evil through spiritual values.
