Using Facebook Live To Share Life at Easter

In a pandemic there are three things you can control - the attitude you choose, the actions you take, and the effort you make. Making an effort to share the reason for the hope you have in Jesus is timely, especially on what is shaping up to be one of the greatest weekends of openness to faith and God in a long time.

You’ve seen videos of neighbours in isolation employing creative ways to communicate and connect. What if every believer in your church used Facebook or Instagram on Easter Saturday as their balcony or open window to connect with their neighbours? What if they posted a shareable video inviting others to watch Easter online at their church?

Start conversations that get people talking to each other. Remember, you don’t need to seek out controversy to get engagement.

Using Facebook live video averages six times more engagement than regular video.

Anyone with a Facebook account has access to Facebook live. Go to your Facebook page. Click on “Live Video.”

You have the option to immediately go live on Facebook or make a video and then schedule it.

Making Your Original Masterpiece

  • Keep your video light and bright.

  • Round up your family and sit on your favourite couch.

  • Mom or dad introduces the family. This helps especially if you are wearing masks.

  • If you have a new born, bonus, because everyone loves to see babies.

  • Ready your children to share one thing they like about Easter. Chocolate works.

  • You don’t have to be professional or perfect. Cute works. So does sincere.

  • Share that you would normally go to church as a family on Easter Sunday but you’re self-isolating because you care about your community.

  • And you can still attend an Easter service because your church is online.

  • And you want to do it together with people you care about. Tag friends in your video. Create a Watch Party.

  • Invite viewers to go online with you for your church’s Easter broadcast.

  • Include the time of the service and a link to where they can view. Hashtag your church’s name.

  • Ask people to comment on your production and share your video.

  • Wish everyone a Happy Easter. #Easter=hope.

Make this your best Easter ever by serving your community, sharing hope and showing the love of Jesus by staying home.

Happy Easter.
