The Why And How Of YouVersion Events
Every second, 66,000 people are using the YouVersion app. Inside the app is an “Events” function. I’ve been creating YouVersion Events for the last five years. My hope was one-day Events would replace our church bulletin and message notes as a paperless way to engage and communicate. Adaptation was slow.
Cue a pandemic. Isolation is sending everyone online and trying new things. Events is an old application that can give your communication new life.
Events allows your church to have a presence right inside the YouVersion app. Create an Event for your church, and people will be able to follow along with your message and see Scripture references, message outlines, church announcements, and links to online giving.
Events allows for note taking and users can save a personalized copy for future reference.
Once you have your Event scheduled and ready to share, Events gives you a link you can use on all your social networks, in your email communications. But you’ve got to overuse the link to make it beneficial.
If you start using Events now as an online necessity you may actually help your church save money in the future. The average church spends thousands of dollars a year printing bulletins. Because Events can replace your bulletins with a digital copy, it can help eliminate those costs.
Check this out today and you can be ready to go with your first event in 24 hours. Put the link into your weekly Mailchimp email and get your congregation engaged.
Step #1
Login to the Bible app and click “New Event.”
Step #2
Add the Event details, including church name, location, time and date of your service. Once all details of the Event (ie your service) have been added, click ‘Save.’
Step #3
Add content to your Event by clicking “Content” to access features like scriptures, images, plans, announcements, etc. Content can also be conveniently re-ordered to accommodate service designs.
Step #4
Once all content has been inserted, click “Preview” to review the Event content and make necessary edits. The preview feature also shows what the event announcement will look like on mobile devices and what time the event will be live within the app.
Step #5
After reviewing and editing your Event, click “Publish” to publish your event within the app. Now all users within the Bible app can view your event content.
Once your Event is posted, the URL is also created for your event so you can share the link across all media platforms for your church. It’s as easy as that. And events can be duplicated within the app so you don’t have to start from scratch each week.
Once you have your first Event created post the link in the comment section below and I'll help share it for your church. Here’s the link to the Event I made for Bethel in Barrhead for Sunday, March 29th.
