4 Calls From General Conference 2018

This past May, over a thousand delegates from the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada gathered in Victoria, BC to celebrate 100 years of ministry in Canada. During the event, there were four distinct calls that went out to those that were gathered there.

The call to thankfulness for the past. Looking back over 100 years, there were stories of incredible fruitfulness as people were obedient to the call of God on their lives. Our history is one of risk-takers and Great Commission followers. Our story is one of a church on mission with Jesus. We have a bright future because of our past. This is something to celebrate.

The call to theology that compels us to act. As we look at our Pentecostal distinctive, it’s important to remember that our understanding of the Holy Spirit as empowerment for witness is what draws us to reach lost people. Our passion is the lost. Our power is the Holy Spirit. What we understand about God compels us to action.

The call to vitalization and multiplication. We have a strong desire to take that same pioneering spirit and move into the future with boldness and courage. We are in the early stages of a vitalization and multiplication movement that is strengthening existing ministries and planting new access points to the Gospel. Creativity, innovation, and effectiveness in all initiatives are what we need to turn the tide in Canada and grow.

The call to unity both within and without. We are better together. Our hearts are for unity in the church in Canada. We will honor other churches in our community. We will collaborate with each other. We will empower all generations. This is not about us. This is about the Kingdom of God advancing in our nation.
