3 Ways To Connect During Online Church
So you’ve got church online up and running …. This is awesome! But beyond just preaching and singing, you need to find ways to connect people during the online service. You should also be expecting newcomers to join you this Sunday online. Here are three ways you can be intentional in connecting to people this Sunday.
1. Have Online Hosts
Assign people in your congregation to act as hosts online. They will greet people as they see them watching, interact with every comment/question, and make notes of who is new. On Facebook online, you can see who is watching so write down the names of people that are new.
2. Use Online Forms
Develop digital forms for Newcomers, Next Steps, and Online Giving. Use free form builders like Jotforms or Wufoo to develop online forms that allow people to fill them out digitally. You can post the links to the forms in the chat windows or as links in your life stream. Invite people to “fill out the form” just as you would invite people to fill out the connect card.
3. Provide “Lobby Time”
One of the things that we miss out on when we gather virtually is the ability to connect before or after the service. Use the chat windows or Zoom break out rooms to develop a lobby experience where people can greet each other, have a conversation and connect. This will require some planning and intention on your part to make this happen but you’ll be glad you did.
Connection during online services are very important to developing community and engaging first time guests. What are you going to do to connect with people this weekend online?
